The BASIC & ENHANCED STAR program is being restructured due to NYS Legislation changes. If you have applied for the STAR property tax exemption beginning 2016 or you closed on your home after March 1st, 2018 exemption deadline, you must now apply for STAR through New York State Tax Dept. NEW STAR eligible applicants will receive a STAR Credit check directly from New York State Department of Taxation & Finance, instead of receiving a school tax exemption directly on their school tax bill. To be eligible for a STAR check, you must register with the New York State Tax Dept. by July 1st to receive your check in September or if you register AFTER July 1st, you'll receive a check at a later date.

ENHANCED STAR APPLICANTS 65+: This year NYS has MANDATED an additional form RP-425IVP to be completed and submitted with your Enhanced STAR Renewal application by March 1st, 2019. THIS FORM IS INCLUDED IN YOUR ENHANCED STAR RENEWAL packet sent from our office. All RP-425IVP forms will be submitted to NYS and as a result you will no longer be required to file a RP-425 RNW form or bring proof of income to the Assessor's Office. Your income will be verified through NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance. THIS IS FOR ENHANCED STAR ONLY. If you have additional exemptions (Senior Citizen, not STAR) based on total income, you are still required to submit proof of income with your application.
